VOTRE PRENOM A-T-IL UN SENS ?
do some research on your name

A class activity using the Net by Cindy Komet.

INSTRUCTIONS:

You are going to do some research on your name.

I will give you the beginning of a site's URL (address), but you must fill in the rest
before going to the site.

Where I've left (m/f) you will leave either m for male or f for female.

Where I've left (name) you will type your name (saisir votre prénom).

All the rest of the details in the URL will remain the same.

Here is the URL:
http://www.kabalarians.com/(m/f)/(name).htm

1- Type in the address and get to the site.
If your name does not appear, try another spelling (but know that the name
"analysis" will not be the same as the one meant for your spelling).

2-When the information appears on the screen, block and copy* the section
that begins with your name.

There should be two paragraphs.

*block and copy - Press the left button on the mouse and darken the required
area. Press control-C - en français: copier.

3-Open Word for Windows and paste the copied information (press Control-V
in order to paste) - en français: coller.

4-Run a spelling check on the information (I have found mistakes!) and
correct them where necessary.

5-Print out this document.

6-What words and/or phrases are used to describe a person with your name?

List these words or phrases in two columns:

  • 1. those that describe me
  • 2. those that do not describe me.
VARIATION :

Research the name of a character in one of the literary passages read in class.
How true is the description to the character?

COMPOSITION:

What's in a name? You've just experienced a personal analysis based solely on a name.

How accurate was that ? Is this serious ? If you can't judge a book by its cover,
can you truly judge a person by his/her name?

Describe the process you have just participated in, and
state your personal opinion of it. Can you accept this method ?
