WW2 in Europe
- ''What General Weygand called the Battle
of France is over. The Battle of Britain is about to begin.... The whole fury and
might of the enemy must very soon be turned upon us. Hitler knows he must break us
in this island or lose the war.... If we fail, the whole world, including the United
States, and all that we have known and cared for, will sink into the abyss of a new
dark age made more sinister and perhaps more prolonged by the lights of a perverted
scienceÉLet us therefore brace ourselves to our duty and so bear ourselves that
if the British Commonwealth and Empire last for a thousand years, men will still
say, 'This was their finest hour.' - Sir

- THE DUNKIRK DILMEMMA
- Sea Tales - a videocassette documenting a pivotal event from WWII, this thought-provoking
program speculates that failure at Dunkirk would have propelled Churchill from office
and installed a government ready to talk peace on Hitler's terms. In late May and
early June 1940, more than 340,000 Allied troops, besieged by unrelenting air and
ground attack, were lifted from the French coast and spirited across the Channel
to Ramsgate in a flotilla of "little ships." Eyewitness stories and combat
footage testify to British pluck in bringing off what seemed to many at the time--especially
the Germans--an impossible feat.
