« Every now and then go away, have a little relaxation,
for when you come back to your work your judgment will be surer
.
Go some distance away because then the work appears smaller,
more of it can be taken in at a glance and a lack of harmony
and proportion is more readily seen
. » -Leonardo Da Vinci.

'We're in such a hurry most of the time we never get much chance to talk. The result is a kind of endless day-to-day shallowness, a monotony that leaves a person wondering years later where all the time went and sorry that it's all gone.' -- Robert M. Pirsig.

"All your scholarship would be in vain if at the same time you do not build your character and attain mastery over your thoughts and your actions." - Gandhi.

"The best things in life are nearest : Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life's plain, common work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life." -- Robert Louis Stevenson. "

Creative thinking exercises, mind mapping, brainstorming,
and other techniques all serve to tap the vast creative and "revolutionary" thought resource residing between your ears. Take 10 minutes to tap your mind about the greatest challenge you are facing right now. I prefer to use a tape recorder, although brainstorming or mind mapping on a piece of paper is fine.

1. Sit in a quiet place where you won't be distracted. 2. State your challenge. (Or write it if using paper.)
3. Let it flow! Think about the challenge in every way possible. Do not censor any thoughts. Your purpose is not to evaluate the ideas that are flowing through your mind, simply to record them.
4. After the 10 minutes are up, go back and evaluate the ideas that you recorded. Think about how you could take advantage of the idea to run past your challenge.

This is just one simple method to stimulate unconventional solutions and ideas. Like everything else, the techniques become much more effective with practice. Knowledge is worthless if not put to consistent and purposeful use. - Michael A. Wineke, Empowerment Now!
